SHELBYVILLE, IN – The Batesville high school men’s and women’s swimming teams participated in the Shelbyville Relays on Saturday December, 12. Overall, the teams finished tied for 6th and 7th in the men’s and women’s events, respectively.
“This meet is intended to be a much more fun meet than the traditional dual, or double-dual setups we typically attend.” Said Coach McMullen, “Shelbyville always does a great job hosting this event and this year was no exception.”
The meet hosted over 200 athletes over the course of the afternoon and featured 10 new records. While the Bulldogs didn’t see themselves atop the podium for the afternoon, they did see four top-3 finishes on the day including in the 200 Medley Relay (third for both men and women), second for the men’s 400 Medley relay and 100 Freestyle relay.
“As always, the final results don’t always tell the full story in how we swam as a team. Both teams are starting to click as we get closer to the EIAC championship meet. We’re also starting to hit the heaviest part of our training loads,” commented Coach McMullen. “We’re starting to lift heavier and train farther, even with our current limitations we’re still increasing our overall volume.”
