Varsity letters must be earned, or defended each year.
To letter, swimmers must complete all criteria from section A, and 3 from section B, OR 1 from section C.
Previous varsity letters will not be factored in when considering current year letter status.
Group A
Swimmers must complete all items in this group to maintain “good standing” and qualify for any team awards. Swimmer must:
- have zero unexcused absences for entire season (includes weights, for individual committing to the weight program).
- display a growth mindset, and give best effort daily.
- display sportsmanship and the ability to be a great teammate.
- remain academically eligible for the entire season.
Group B
To earn a varsity letter two of these items must be achieved. Swimmers must:
- place top 12 at EIAC in an individual event
- place top 16 at Sectionals in an individual event
- place top 6 on a relay at Conference
- place top 16 on a relay at Sectionals
- obtain two standard times of at least 50 points
- have the ability to compete, legally, in every race offered in high school swimming
- be available for all competitions throughout the season

Group C
Swimmers may also complete one item from this group to obtain Varsity Letter status. Swimmers must:
- place top 6 at EIAC in an individual event
- place top 8 at Sectionals in an individual event
- place top 3 on a relay at Conference
- place top 8 on a relay at Sectionals
- qualify for State, individually or as part of a relay team
- break a team record
- be a senior who has swam for 4 consecutive years
