Middle School Participation
Our program depends heavily on maintaining contact with our middle school athletes.
Batesville middle school students are welcome to participate with the Batesville high school swimming program given the following requirements and expectations. Middle School swimmers must:
- be enrolled at Batesville Middle School and in either 7th or 8th grade.
- have previous competitive swimming experience (USA Swimming or YMCA club, Batesville Summer Team, etc).
- submit all required paperwork for participation as a Batesville High School athlete (reach out to Mr. Helvie for details).
- meet the following time standards:
- 50 Free: 40.00
- 100 Free: 1:30.00
- 100 Back: 1:40.00
- commit to at least three practice sessions per week (non-meet weeks).
- follow all specified team rules and expectations.
Additionally, the high school program must prioritize the high school athletes first, therefore middle school members will only be welcome if:
- The high school team size is less than 30 participants and
- The number of middle school participants does not exceed 5.
Athlete participation is at the full discretion of the coaching staff, athletic director and school administration.
Note: Middle school team members are not be permitted to travel with the team to or from meets and are not permitted to participate in meets until they are a registered student at Batesville High School.
